Call for Editorial Board Members

The Advisory Board of Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law (IJHRL) is seeking applications for its Editorial Board. Traditionally, IJHRL has competed with international criminal law, humanitarian law, and human rights law reviews. In the past, editorial advisory board members have included leading scholars such as M. Cherif Bassiouni, Antonio Cassese, Roger S. Clark, Sandy Hodgkinson, Leila Nadya Sadat, William A. Schabas, Otto Triffterer, and David Wippman. Academicians and practitioners specializing in issues concerning the International Human Rights Law are highly encouraged to apply. Candidates should be available to assume their titles immediately.

IJHRL is published by the Council for American Students in International Negotiations. The Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law (IJHRL) is a peer-reviewed, scholarly journal designed to address international human rights issues more broadly. The first volume of the IJHRL was ranked #8 among top international law reviews on ExpressO rankings. The journal explores political, philosophical, and legal questions related to international human rights from diverse perspectives. It strives to create a more thoughtful polity better able to make informed choices about ethical foreign policymaking. Previous publications are available on HeinOnline.

Qualifications: Candidates should have strong writing skills and a significant record of publications in international criminal law and justice, humanitarian law, or human rights law. Senior faculty members, as well as senior level practitioners, are encouraged to apply. Applicants should have at least 5-10 years of relevant experience in the field of international criminal law and justice, humanitarian law, or human rights law.

Duties: Members of the Board of Editors are expected to review manuscripts submitted by authors, give constructive comments, and determine the manuscript’s suitability for publication. Members will be identified according to their availability and expertise. Board members are also expected to give ongoing advice and new ideas that will benefit the Journal.

Call for Associate Journal Editors

The Council for American Students in International Negotiations (CASIN) is currently seeking associate editors for its 2009-2010 scholarly journal The Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law. Please visit www.americanstudents.us to learn more about CASIN publications.

Associate editors report to the Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Primary responsibilities of editors include reviewing submissions and preparing them for publication. Editors are afforded substantial input in the journal’s content and have unparalleled opportunities to work closely with a wide range of international scholars. Additionally, most work takes place via e-mail and requires only a few hours per week. Opportunities for additional responsibility and promotion within the organization are available to highly motivated candidates.

In the letter of interest, please indicate that you are applying as an associate editor for the Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law. Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law Call for Papers 2009-2010

Interdisciplinary Journal of Human Rights Law Call for Papers 2009-2010:

IJHRL is an annual, peer-reviewed journal published by the Council for American Students in International Negotiations. The journal invites quality submissions from scholars, jurists, and professionals in fields related to human rights and international humanitarian law. IJHRL also welcomes review essays, book reviews, and comments/notes.

Manuscripts must be computer generated in MS Word and submitted electronically, via e-mail or Berkeley Electronic Press's Expresso submission service, at http://law.bepress.com/expresso. Each submission should contain an abstract of no more than 150 words, a cover letter, a brief biographical sketch, and appropriate contact information. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editor-in-Chief with assurance that they have not been published or accepted for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts should range from 3,000 to 10,000 words (approximately 15-25 pages) and be typed, double-spaced. Manuscripts exceeding the maximum length may not be considered. Book reviews may run from 1,000 to 2,500 words. Submissions must follow the style guidelines of either the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) 5th Edition or The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation 17th Edition. Upon receiving comments from referees, notification of acceptance, rejection or need for revision will be given within 4-6 weeks of receipt of manuscript.

Early submissions are encouraged. The deadline is 1 July 2009.
